TA junior trainee actuary is involved in a wide range of both actuarial and consultancy projects. Key duties and responsibilities include the following:

• Provide actuarial support to senior members of the team.
• Processing calculations for actuarial valuations, transfer values, etc
• Analysing, checking and processing membership data for actuarial purposes.
• Assisting with the development of systems and spreadsheets to cope with changes in pension's
legislation and practice.
• Deal with routine queries received from clients, scheme members, third parties.
• Attend client meetings, seminars etc.
• Reporting to the qualified actuaries and senior actuarial students on a regular basis.

Experience Required:
The following skills, experience and knowledge are required for this role:

• A sound mathematical background is essential, preferably with experience in the financial sector.
With a 2:1 degree in a numerate or semi numerate subject.
• Excellent planning and organisational ability in order to prioritise and complete work in accordance
with deadlines.
• Good analytical skills and ability to work though tasks in a logical manner
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team with rapidly changing priorities and demands and build strong
working relationships with your peers, and senior colleagues.
• Strong IT skills with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular Excel.

Life Assurance
Graduate Position

A student rotation program is offered where employees will rotate between departments gaining experience in the following areas:

Actuarial Reporting
• To assist with the timely and accurate Financial reporting on various bases e.g. statutory valuation,
embedded value, IFRS.
• To assist with the development of capital adequacy and risk based capital techniques in
accordance with the companies' own risk processes and as required by FSA/CBI guidelines
companies.
• To assist with the preparation and validation of actuarial data and the development of appropriate
documentation
• Financial projections & budget work.
• Solvency II development work including participation in Quantitative Impact Studies (QIS) and
gap analyses.

Product & Pricing
• Product development including profit testing, development of policy illustrations and reviews of
product literature.
• Assist the Financial Reporting Actuary in ensuring that the company's ongoing capital/solvency
position is monitored and the premium rates charged are appropriate.
• To assist in the production of the experience studies necessary for the smooth running of the
business

Actuarial Support
• Assisting in the testing and development of quotation and administration systems
• Assisting the actuarial team in dealing with special requests from the business

General Insurance
Graduate Position

A student rotation program is offered where employees will rotate between departments gaining experience in the following areas:

Pricing
• Liaise with underwriters and other actuaries to ensure the quality of the pricing process, both in
terms of access to appropriate historic loss data at a sufficiently detailed level and in interpreting
trends.

Claims reserving
• monitor and communicate ongoing trends in claims development, both internal and external.
• collate all data relating to the calculation of claims reserves
• set parameters governing reserve calculation
• calculate claims reserves
• establish sensitivity of likely claims costs to changes in experience from assumed
• contribute to preparation of Data Adequacy Statement and Statement of Actuarial Opinion

Capital management
• contribute to the management of capital by establishing liability profiles in order to assess suitable
matching asset holdings.
• take a leading role in the process of reporting on the reserving and capital positions of the
company to the Central Bank of Ireland.
• Establish capability to calculate solvency and minimum capital requirements under the
Solvency II regime.

For all of the above responsibilities, access will be available to the external actuarial consultant for support and advice.

Roles & Responsibilities will include:
• Drafting investment strategy and manager structure reports using modelling tools and
incorporating latest house views as appropriate

• Ensuring all Enterprise Risk Management procedures are being performed and that risks are
measured, monitored and managed.
• Ensure all procedures are properly documented

• Provision of support to the business/functional units in their management of risk

Graduate position reporting directly to the Assistant General Manage. Assisting the Marketing Actuarial team in pricing and designing of products and in the preparation of quotes. The role will lead to significant client contact, account management and business development.

Roles & Responsibilities will include:
Assist in the design and introduction of profitable new products in line with the overall organisation's Product Development Strategy. This will include ensuring the appropriate administration processes and procedures are in place to support the delivery of new products.
